BYD’s Fang Cheng Bao (FCB) Ti7 plug-in hybrid SUV has achieved a significant milestone: 50,000 units sold in just 80 days. This rapid uptake demonstrates the growing demand for rugged-style, long-range PHEVs in the Chinese market. The Ti7’s success underscores how quickly Chinese consumers are embracing vehicles that combine practicality, off-road capability, and competitive pricing.
Rapid Market Adoption
The Ti7’s performance is particularly notable within BYD’s own lineup, making it one of the fastest-selling models from their off-road focused sub-brand. Xiong Tianbo, General Manager of BYD Group’s Fang Cheng Bao Division, announced the milestone on Weibo, signaling the model’s increasing traction in the competitive mid-size PHEV segment.
Pricing and Trim Levels
Launched in early September 2025, the Ti7 is available in four trims, priced to appeal to a broad range of buyers:
- RWD Pro (135 km range): 179,800 yuan (≈ $25,200 USD)
- RWD Max (200 km range): 189,800 yuan (≈ $26,600 USD)
- AWD Max (190 km range): 206,800 yuan (≈ $29,000 USD)
- AWD Ultra (190 km range): 219,800 yuan (≈ $30,800 USD)
This pricing strategy makes the Ti7 a strong contender in the PHEV market, offering both affordability and advanced features.
Off-Road Capabilities and Engineering
The Ti7 isn’t just about range and price; it’s engineered for off-road use:
- Dimensions: 4,999 mm (length) x 1,995 mm (width) x 1,865 mm (height) with a 2,920 mm wheelbase.
- Approach/Departure Angles: 24°/25°
- Wading Depth: Up to 600 mm
- Suspension: Double-wishbone front, five-link rear, with BYD’s “DiSus-C” body control and tire-stability control (TSC). The TSC allows the vehicle to continue driving up to 30 km at 80 km/h after a blowout.
These features demonstrate a commitment to practical performance beyond paved roads.
Powertrain and Performance
The Ti7 combines a 1.5 T engine (115 kW / 154 hp) with one or two electric motors:
- RWD: 200 kW (268 hp) motor, 135 km or 200 km pure-electric CLTC range (26.6 kWh or 35.6 kWh battery).
- AWD: Additional 160 kW (215 hp) front motor, 190 km pure-electric CLTC range (35.6 kWh battery).
- Combined Range: Up to 1,300 km (battery + fuel).
The AWD Ultra trim boasts a 0–100 km/h time of 4.5 seconds and a fuel consumption of 4.9 L/100 km (NEDC).
Interior and Tech
The Ti7’s cabin is designed for comfort and convenience, with up to 45 storage spaces and 1,880 liters of cargo volume with the rear seats folded. Higher trims feature a “7-screen cockpit” (including a 26-inch W-HUD), an optional built-in refrigerator, ambient lighting, wireless charging, and up to a 20-speaker audio system.
The top AWD Ultra trim offers BYD’s “God’s Eye B” (DiPilot 300) advanced driver-assist system with rooftop LiDAR, an optional vehicle-mounted drone, and upgraded braking.
The BYD FCB Ti7’s rapid sales figures reflect a growing trend in the Chinese automotive market: demand for capable, well-equipped, and competitively priced plug-in hybrid SUVs. This success suggests that rugged design and long electric ranges are key factors driving consumer choices.
