Toyota has unveiled the GR Yaris Morizo RR, an even more aggressive version of its already acclaimed hot hatch. The limited-edition vehicle is packed with performance upgrades directly inspired by the grueling Nürburgring 24 Hours endurance race, where Toyota chairman Akio Toyoda – racing under the alias ‘Morizo’ – personally tested and refined the car.
Nürburgring-Derived Enhancements
The GR Yaris Morizo RR benefits from exclusive suspension tuning developed through Toyota’s participation in the 2025 Nürburgring 24 Hours. The car features a carbon-fiber rear wing, hood, and body kit – all originally designed for the race car. Unique visual elements include a distinctive radiator grille and specialized paint accents.
Morizo Mode and Transmission
A standout feature is the “Morizo Mode” button, which replaces the standard Gravel Mode. This setting adjusts the torque split to a balanced 50:50 distribution between the front and rear axles, improving handling. The RR comes exclusively with an eight-speed Gazoo Racing Direct Automatic Transmission, a choice Toyoda-san credits with enabling him to complete 15 laps of the 21-kilometer Nürburgring track. Electronic power steering has also been recalibrated for sharper response.
Interior Upgrades and Limited Production
Inside, the cabin receives upgraded touches: a suede-wrapped GR steering wheel with yellow stitching, exclusive seats also accented with yellow stitching, and a dedicated Morizo Mode display on the digital instrument cluster.
Toyota will produce just 100 units for the Japanese market and another 100 for Europe, each individually numbered with a commemorative plaque.
This release underscores Toyota’s commitment to motorsport-inspired development. By directly incorporating lessons from extreme racing environments, the GR Yaris Morizo RR is positioned as the ultimate track-focused version of the iconic hot hatch. The limited production run ensures exclusivity and high demand among performance enthusiasts.
