Tesla has begun offering a seven-seat configuration for its updated Model Y Premium, available exclusively on the all-wheel drive variant for an extra $2,500.
Limited Third-Row Space
The third row appears to be the same as the previous Model Y, which means it’s best suited for small children. Passengers in the rear won’t enjoy much comfort beyond basic amenities like cup holders and armrests built into the cargo area. This suggests the third row is more of a convenience for occasional use rather than a comfortable long-term seating solution.
Performance and Pricing
The Model Y Premium with the seven-seat option starts at $51,490. The vehicle maintains respectable performance figures, achieving 0-60 mph in 4.6 seconds with a top speed of 125 mph. The EPA estimates a range of 327 miles on a single charge.
Interior Upgrades
All Premium and Performance Model Y versions now include a black headliner and a larger 16-inch infotainment display, replacing the older 15.4-inch screen.
This update reflects Tesla’s incremental approach to feature additions, prioritizing cost-effective solutions over comprehensive comfort improvements. The third-row option caters to families who occasionally need extra seating, but it doesn’t address concerns about space or long-distance usability.
