The 2027 Kia Niro is receiving a mid-cycle update, moving away from chrome accents and adopting a more unified design language. New images from Kia’s Korean website reveal a series of subtle but significant changes, bringing the subcompact SUV in line with the brand’s latest aesthetic direction.
Exterior Refinements
The most noticeable change is the elimination of the chrome strip that previously ran across the front fascia. This gives the Niro a cleaner, more modern look. The headlights now feature Kia’s signature jagged lines but with added vertical elements, echoing the design cues seen in other updated models.
A key adjustment is the color-matching of the C-pillar – previously accented – to the main body color. This creates a smoother visual flow and reduces the two-tone appearance. The rear bumper has been redesigned for a more cohesive look, and the taillights are simplified, no longer extending onto the roof.
Interior Updates
Inside, the biggest upgrade is the integration of Kia’s dual 12.3-inch screens for infotainment and instrumentation, now housed under a single glass panel. This provides a more modern and high-tech cabin experience. The steering wheel has also been updated with new controls, though the overall interior layout remains largely unchanged.
Powertrain and Availability
Kia has not yet released full details, including pricing, but expects to do so in March. The powertrain options will likely mirror the current lineup, with hybrid and electric versions available. The refreshed Niro is expected to arrive in the U.S. as a 2027 model.
The 2027 Niro’s updates demonstrate Kia’s commitment to keeping its lineup fresh and competitive. The streamlined design and improved tech features position the Niro as a strong contender in the subcompact SUV segment.
