Nissan has begun production of the 2026 Versa, with details emerging ahead of its official March 3rd debut. The redesigned model focuses heavily on interior upgrades, particularly in higher trim levels, while retaining affordability in base options.
Trim Levels and Standard Features
The Versa will be available in three trims in Mexico: Sense, Sense CVT, Advance, and Exclusive.
- Sense: The entry-level trim includes LED lighting, 15-inch steel wheels, six airbags, and a 9-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Safety features such as forward collision warning and emergency braking with pedestrian detection are standard.
- Sense CVT: This trim adds a continuously variable transmission (CVT), an engine start/stop button, cruise control, and rear parking sensors. It also includes a two-speaker audio system and automatic door locks.
- Advance: Moving up, the Advance trim features welcome lighting, 16-inch aluminum wheels, a four-speaker audio system, and a 7-inch digital instrument cluster. A passive entry system and around view monitor are also included.
- Exclusive: The top-tier Versa Exclusive is CVT-only and boasts 17-inch aluminum wheels, a 12.3-inch infotainment system, and an eight-speaker Bose premium audio system. Additional features include a wireless smartphone charger, lane departure prevention, and blind spot intervention.
Interior Differences by Trim
Nissan emphasizes the Versa as the “most technologically advanced sedan in its class,” with higher trims showcasing a relatively upscale cabin. The Exclusive trim’s Bose audio system integrates speakers into the headrests, while the dashboard features soft-touch materials with faux stitching.
However, lower trims maintain a more budget-friendly approach, with analog gauges and hard plastics. All trims include a flat-bottom steering wheel and silver accents, though the overall quality varies significantly between levels.
Performance and Availability
The 2026 Versa is powered by a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine producing 118 hp (88 kW / 120 PS) and 110 lb-ft (149 Nm) of torque. Buyers can choose between a manual gearbox or a CVT, with power delivered to the front wheels.
Nissan has not yet confirmed whether the Versa will be sold in the American market. The model’s initial rollout is focused on Mexico, but its success there could influence future expansion plans.
The 2026 Nissan Versa represents a strategic blend of affordability and modern features. By segmenting its trim levels, Nissan aims to appeal to a wider range of buyers, offering basic safety and tech in lower trims while providing premium comfort and convenience in higher-end models.
