Cupra Raval: New EV Spotted Testing Without Camouflage

Cupra’s upcoming Raval electric vehicle was recently photographed in full, revealing its design ahead of any official announcement. The compact EV, built on Volkswagen’s MEB+ platform, is poised to become the sportiest variant in the family, alongside the VW ID. Polo and Skoda Epiq.

Design and Proportions

The Raval boasts athletic proportions, blending sporty hatch and crossover elements. Its design features chunky wheel arches with slim, tapering glass areas, creating a dynamic silhouette. The vehicle measures just over 4,000 mm (157.5 inches) long, placing it in the subcompact class.

Mechanicals and Performance

The MEB+ platform underpins the Raval, allowing for front-wheel drive configurations. Cupra has reportedly led chassis tuning development for the entire project, resulting in a lowered suspension (about 15 mm) and a stiffer setup. The base model will likely offer around 208 hp (155 kW) with a 55 kWh battery, while a higher-performance VZ variant will deliver 233 hp (166 kW) along with an electronic differential and wider track widths.

The base model is expected to accelerate to 62 mph (100 kmh) in around 7.2 seconds, with a range of up to 278 miles (450 km) on the WLTP cycle. The VZ trim will offer slightly reduced range (249 miles / 400 km) but improved performance.

Market Positioning

Cupra plans to launch the Raval in 2026, with pricing expected to start around €26,000 ($30,000). The car’s early unveiling suggests the official reveal is imminent. The uncamouflaged prototypes suggest the production version is nearly ready, leaving little room for surprises.

The Raval’s development under Cupra’s leadership indicates a focus on sporty handling and dynamic performance within the subcompact EV segment. This approach sets it apart from the more mainstream offerings from VW and Skoda.
