Mercedes-AMG Prepares 800 HP Electric C-Class: Spy Shots Reveal Next-Gen Performance EV

14

Mercedes-AMG is developing a high-performance electric version of the upcoming C-Class, and recent spy shots confirm it will deliver serious power. The prototype, spotted undergoing testing, suggests AMG isn’t holding back on electrifying its iconic performance formula.

Sleeker Design, Aggressive Aerodynamics

The electric C-Class breaks from the traditional sedan profile, adopting a more aggressive fastback shape. This hints at a sportier character compared to the standard combustion model, though it doesn’t quite match the BMW i3’s dynamic stance. Visible upgrades include massive forged alloy wheels, drilled brake rotors, and a deployable active spoiler – all signs of track-ready intent.

Mercedes is also refining its visual identity with the latest star-themed lighting signatures, now a signature for its next-generation EVs. The illuminated grille will further distinguish the electric C-Class, making it instantly recognizable even at night.

Tri-Motor System Promises Up To 800 Horsepower

Under the hood, the AMG variant will utilize Mercedes’ MB.EA platform, designed specifically for electric vehicles. The architecture supports an 800-volt electrical system for faster charging and efficiency. While the standard C-Class EV is expected to offer up to 497 miles of range with its 94 kWh battery, the AMG version may trade some distance for increased output.

According to sources, the AMG C-Class could produce up to 789 hp (800 PS / 588 kW) through a tri-motor setup and Mercedes’ new eATS 2.0 motor generation. This could make it faster than many legacy V8-powered sports sedans.

Competition Looms: BMW and Audi Will Respond

The electric AMG C-Class will enter a competitive arena. BMW’s Neue Klasse-based i3 will feature M performance variants, while Audi is also preparing high-speed electric A4 models. Mercedes expects to reveal the full electric C-Class lineup later this year, with the AMG version following shortly after.

The electric C-Class AMG is poised to redefine performance in the segment. Mercedes is clearly determined to prove that electrification doesn’t mean sacrificing power or driving dynamics.
