Toyota’s high-performance motorsport division, Gazoo Racing (GR), has collaborated with McDonald’s Japan to release a series of collectible Happy Meal toys. The campaign features the GR GT3 racing car as a central attraction, marking the vehicle’s transition from a concept model to a competitive global race car.
GR GT3 Toy Details
The scale model of the GR GT3 is produced by Tomica and showcases distinctive racing features such as aggressive aerodynamic styling and side-mounted exhausts. The toy is adorned with both McDonald’s and Toyota Gazoo Racing branding. Customers can scan a QR code on the packaging to unlock digital content and interactive web experiences related to the car.
Broader Happy Meal Lineup
The collaboration extends beyond the GR GT3, with several other vehicles included in the 2026 Happy Meal toy collection:
– Toyota Town Ace Hamburger truck
– Nissan Skyline sedan police car
– Fire truck
– Nissan Caravan ambulance
– Toyota Dyna tow truck
– Two-story bus
– Hino Profia Megalodon Transport Truck
– Mystery model (likely another GR GT3 with a different livery)
The toys will be released in batches between April 10 and May 7. All nine models will then be available to Happy Meal customers starting May 8.
GR GT3 Livery Design Contest
Toyota and McDonald’s are also hosting a “GR GT3 Wrapping Design Contest” on X (formerly Twitter). Fans are invited to download a coloring template and submit custom livery designs for the model. Winners will receive exclusive prizes.
Why this matters: This partnership highlights Toyota’s strategy to engage younger audiences through pop culture crossovers. By embedding its motorsport brand in a family-friendly setting like McDonald’s Happy Meals, Toyota reinforces brand recognition and cultivates future fans. The contest further enhances engagement by inviting creative participation from the public.
