Xiaomi’s electric sedan, the SU7, is set for a mid-cycle refresh in the second quarter of 2026, bringing design updates, improved charging capabilities, and a price increase of approximately $2,800. This move comes as sales of the current SU7 model have recently declined, likely due to competition from Xiaomi’s own YU7 SUV.

Design and Hardware Updates

Spy shots published by CarNewsChina in November already revealed a camouflaged prototype with visible front-end styling changes. The updated SU7 will feature aerodynamic improvements, including revisions to the front grille, and will integrate blind-spot warning indicators into the side mirrors – a feature currently absent from the existing model.

Faster Charging and Unified Battery System

A key upgrade will be a move towards faster charging. The refreshed SU7 is expected to adopt a higher-capacity battery solution and support 5C fast charging across all variants. Currently, only the top-tier Max version uses an 800V platform; the refresh will standardize faster charging across the entire lineup. This is important because faster charging is a critical factor for EV adoption, and a unified system simplifies manufacturing and user experience.

Driver-Assistance System Upgrade

Xiaomi is also expected to upgrade the SU7’s driver-assistance hardware. Reports suggest a new assisted-driving computing platform with a potentially more powerful chip. While Xiaomi has not confirmed specifics, this update would position the SU7 more competitively in a market where advanced driver-assistance features are increasingly standard.

Pricing and Sales Context

The current SU7 lineup is priced from $30,100 (RWD), $34,300 (Pro), to $41,800 (Max). The $2,800 price increase means the refreshed model will start at roughly $32,900. This is a typical refresh strategy: improvements are made, and a moderate price increase is applied. Sales of the SU7 have fallen recently – from 24,410 units in July 2025 to 12,520 in November 2025 – partly because buyers shifted toward the YU7 SUV. The refresh is likely aimed at reigniting demand.

Availability and Current Sales

The existing SU7 remains on sale with standard warranty and delivery programs. Xiaomi has recently increased inventory access, reducing delivery times for some buyers. This suggests the company is clearing stock ahead of the 2026 refresh launch.

The SU7 refresh is a calculated move by Xiaomi to maintain competitiveness in the rapidly evolving EV market.
