Cadillac’s CTS-V wagon was never about blending in.
It was always a statement. This one on Bring a Trailer is an extended statement.
Most American wagons used to scream “family values.” They meant car seats. Soccer practice. Quiet. This one screams “lock your doors.”
Take a look under the hood. It’s not the stock supercharger howl anymore. Someone went back in. They tweaked it.
Like the Bugatti Veyron, this car makes no sense. It is awesome anyway.
Here is the build.
- Engine : Supercharged 6.2L V-8
- Output : ~700 hp (at the wheels)
- Modifications : Ported heads. New headers. Upgraded cams. Carbon intake. Bigger injectors.
- Stance : Canepa Design widebody kit. It looks aggressive. It stays on the ground.
- Tires : 345-width rear rubbers. Michelin Pilot Super Sports.
- Brakes : Brembos. Coilovers front and rear.
The original 2008 CTS-V wagon already laughed at BMW M5s and Mercedes AMGs. It had 556 horsepower. It was silly. It was fast. GM let engineers build what they wanted for a change.
This example takes that silence and breaks it.
Six-speed automatic sends that torque to the back wheels. Limited-slip differential fights for grip. Do you think 20-inch rims handle 700 ponies? Barely. But the widebody fits those fat 345 tires. The math works out. Mostly.
Handling? Sharp. The suspension holds up. The blue paint hides the sweat of the previous owner trying to control this beast on winding roads.
Is it practical? No.
Is it fast? Yes.
Will you see it in traffic? Doubt it.
Cadillac needs to hear this. Give us the CT5-V Blackwing as a longroof wagon. Let us annoy our neighbors again.
Bidding ends July 15. Good luck with your neighbors.
