Denza’s Z Coupé Hits The Scene

3

The wraps are off. ByD’s premium arm, Denza, just showed us the coupe version of the Z. It’s an electric hypercar. A serious one.

Underneath is a new take on the e3 platform. The Z9 GT uses this too. But here? Three electric motors combine for 1582 bhp. Torque sits at 915 lb-ft.

That is power.

0 to 62 mph in 2.25 seconds. The Z Spider does it in 2.3 seconds. Not much difference there. But look at the Racing variant. Big wing. Semi-slick tires. It hits 62 in 1.96 seconds.

Speed matters. Top speed for the coupe and spider? 186 mph. The Racing model wants more. 217 mph.

There’s more. A ‘Special Edition’ is coming. Over 1973 bhp. 0 to 62 in under 1.7 seconds. It brings better battery cooling too. Built for the track.

Suspension gets interesting here. Magnetorheological damping. The fluid inside holds metal filaments. The car’s computer sends magnetic signals. The viscosity changes in milliseconds. Fast. Very fast. It adapts to the tarmac instantly.

Air springs support the Coupe and Spider. The Racing variant? Old school metal coils. Brakes are heavy duty. Carbon-ceramic discs. Six pistons front. Four pots back.

They all share a 76 kWh battery. Lithium-iron-phosphate chemistry. Range differs slightly.
– Coupe: 254 miles
– Spider: 248 miles
– Racing: 236 miles

No modular pack here. Cells mount directly to the chassis. It adds torsional rigidity. The body gets stiffer.

It’s raw. Fast. And ready.
